Caryn obtained her degree in England, from the University of Wales, through the European School of Osteopathy, and qualified in 1997.
She worked for many years in Kent and in South London before migrating to live and work here in Australia, 12.5 years ago. She has been with Enhance Osteopathy in Heidelberg as a senior associate for over 5 years.
Caryn grew up in South Africa and has lived in a number of countries since. Her travels mean she has gained valuable experience in dealing with people and their wide variety of complaints.
An enthusiastic and dynamic Osteopath, Caryn enjoys working both with structural and cranial Osteopathy. Her techniques include soft tissue, articulation, mobilisation techniques and cranial among many others.
She commonly treats adults and children of all ages, including newborns, with conditions such as neck and back pain, headaches, sports injuries, postural problems, pregnancy complaints, repetitive strain injuries and many more.
Due to her training at the well-known European School of Osteopathy, Caryn likes to view and treat the body as a whole functioning unit and therefore takes an holistic approach to her treatments.
With many years of experience under her belt, she is able to deal proficiently with all musculoskeletal complaints. Caryn tries to educate her patients with exercise and lifestyle changes/advice where necessary to optimise the benefits of treatment and prevent further occurrence.
Caryn has a keen interest in workplace ergonomic assessment and its relationship with musculoskeletal injuries. She is currently doing more work in this field.
As Caryn has been practicing osteopathy for over 23 years she has completed more postgraduate continuing professional development (CDP) than most. These CPD courses have included learning in areas of surgery and outcomes, osteopathic techniques both structural and indirect, paediatrics, ergonomics and risk assessment and Buteyko and Wim Hoff breathing.
The list also includes technology updates in practice, headaches and migraine, concussion management, overview of shock wave and laser therapy and ultrasound in practice. Gut health and effects, common influences of inflammation, tongue and lip tie in infants, work on scoliosis, sleep and patient outcomes and swiss ball rehab work, to name just a few.
Caryn treated her first newborn patient while she was still a student at university over 24 years ago under the supervision of clinic tutors, since then she has cared for many hundreds, if not thousands of paediatric patients with a large a variety of complaints from sleep, irritability, digestive and tongue tie complaints as just an example. If you are concerned about bringing your child to the right practitioner Caryn offers a very caring, compassionate and knowledgeable approach to her paediatric osteopathy care, backed by many years of experience.
Within the week, Caryn balances looking after her family and looking after her patients. Being a mother has enriched Caryn's working life as she has a greater understanding of life's joys and challenges. In her spare time she remains active with walking, gym and karate. She also has interests in cooking, music, movie watching and spending quality time with family and friends.
